    Some brief history
: Around about 1920 Orange County Council, California (OCC) started to grow and grow. Finally in 1944 they got too big and too successful and divided into Northern Orange County Council #37 (NOCC) and Orange Empire Area Council (OEAC). NOCC changed their name in 1965 to North Orange Council #37 (NOC). In autumn of 1972 North Orange Council rejoined with Orange Empire Council (aka Orange Empire Area Council or OEC) to reform Orange County Council (aka OCC or OCBSA) #39, California. A short time later in 1973 Order of the Arrow Ahwahnee Lodge #430 of NOC merged with San Gorgonio Lodge #298 of OEC to form Wiatava Lodge #13 with their Cog Totem.
    Background Information -
What was the America's Bicentennial Celebration?
A question we get asked alot. Here are my interesting & notable notes explaining some the events of the United States of America Bicentennial of the American Revolutionary War of Independence, 1775–1783
    :
The American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976 was marked with many nationwide and some worldwide events in the mid-1970's. With the big events culminating on July 4, 1976, that celebrated 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence British colonial rule. The festivities were stimulated by an act of Congress, American Revolution Bicentennial Administration (ARBA) with Senator John Warner of Virginia as Director.
At the centennial in 1876 a common theme was the Spirit of '76, the was rekindled for the 1976 bicentennial.
The Liberty Bell, an American icon of freedom, was cast at Whitechapel Bell Foundry, England. In Philadelphia on July 6, 1976, Queen Elizabeth II presented a Bicentennial replica Bell on behalf of the British people. It was cast at the same foundry and bears the "For the People of the United States of America from the People of Britain 4 July 1976 LET FREEDOM RING".
    In 1975 the
    American Freedom Train
traveled for almost two years around the conterminous and contiguous United States of America.
There was a a major internation tall ship parades
The official logo was a stylized five-point star of red, white, & blue. It was designed by Bruce Blackburn that also helped to design NASA's logo.
On July 4, 1976 the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum opened.
Postage stamps were issued with historical themes. First Class was raised 30% from 10 cents in 1975 to 13 cents just to celebrate!
On television during commercials there was Bicentennial Moments from celebrities telling about a historical accomplishment.
There was major visual clean-up of communities, parks, neighbors, & schools.
It was a Grand Old Time!
Just think children born today may be around for the Tricentennial in 2076.
