Antique Steel Back Dovetail Miter Tenon Back Saw 15" Long

Description

This auction is for an early steel backed dovetail saw. The handle is in good shape with a couple of chips as can be seen in the photos. I am unsure of the wood. The handle is secured to the blade with a flush inset rectangular brass plate on each side that are fastened with flush steel through rivets. The blade is very tight.
The saw measures approx. 14-3/4" overall, the blade is approx 9-3/4" long and it has roughly 12 teeth per inch. The saw tapers from approx. 2-1/2" to 2-1/8", including the back.
I see no indication of any maker on the steel back.
