    Description

    TWO (2) KOTOKO CAST BRONZE EquestrIAn Warriors.  SMALL Protective amulets. CHAD.
    The Kotoko people believe they are descended from the ancient Sao, original inhabitants of the southern Lake Chad region. These small, mounted bronze figures were traditionally carried as personal memorials and as protective amulets.
    Dimensions: all approximately 2.5" tall x 2.25" long.
    In excellent condition, with nice dark patina and evidence of prior usage.
    PROVENANCE -- Acquired in estate sale from the Eric Robertson Collection, New York, NY. Purchased in Africa c. 1950s, but likely older.
